Flying

We were about an hour on the road when Papa said, "Darn, the camera." I was really bummed because showing pictures of the whole flying adventure would give this post a wonderful effect. But oh well.

We drove to Morton, WA, about 100 miles south of Seattle. Papa had met some hang gliders at a holiday party who were part of a small community in Morton and Lake Chelan area. We met up with one of them, Larry, at the Morton airport.

He gave me a ride in the Bailey-Moyes DragonFly(see above, not my picture). That was my very first time in any kind of aircraft, so it was very exciting. The wind was really wild that day.

Papa got up into the sky for a short flight on a borrowed Falcon glider for the first time in about 3 years. I had some de ja vu on very early memories from when I was young and he took all of us kids up to Lone Pine to watch him launch, and then Bethany, 12 at the time, drove us all down the mountain to pick him up at the LZ. Hmmm. Good stuff. The flying community is really nice. I hope Papa can get out to fly more this year. Maybe I can be the one to drive down the mountain:)

Good times.
