highlights

So I've been good at telling pretty much everybody about my ankle thing, but some people still might not know. So here's the truth. I got the MRI. My chiropractor, Neno, got it back right away and referred me to a surgeon. There was some misunderstanding and I thought I was getting surgery today, but apparently I'm just meeting the surgeon. Other than that I have no idea what's going on. The uncertainty is killing me, but I'm just trying to take it in stride.
They say six weeks out.

sigh

Some people start school today. Summer is basically over in Seattle cause it's dark when I wake up. The rain hasn't decided to stay yet but I'm beginning to feel the morning chill.

This week we're going back to evening schedule at gymnastics: 3:30-8pm. That means I'm going back to training CrossFit classes in the morning. I'm very excited to see all of my original clients again, and I hear that their happy to see me back too.

I can't say anything is confirmed yet, but I've decided to test out of high school and take CC classes this year. I wanted to do Running Start which is a high school program at the college which allows highschoolers to get college credits while they're still in school, but apparently I'd have to actually be enrolled and attending a highschool in the district to qualify. I don't really want to go to highschool, so testing out is the alternative.

I finished The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde, which is one of the most intriguing books I have ever read about a man who keeps the beauty of youth while the rotting of his soul shows in a painting that he hides away:
"'Ah, what is impossible?' murmured the young man, going over to the window, and leaning his forehead against the cold, mist-stained glass.
'You told me you had destroyed it.'
'I was wrong. It has destroyed me.'
'I don't believe it is my picture... There was nothing evil in it, nothing shameful. This is the face of a satyr.'
'It is the face of my soul.'"

birthday and stuff

I just got back from work. My co-worker, Franny, is out of town for a couple weeks so I'm covering her Saturday Open Gym shifts. This means I sit behind the front desk and manage payments and answer questions and be pleasant and smiley with grumpy old ladies rudely demanding leotard prices. I'm not bad at it.

Some middle aged lady told me, "You really should smile more. I watch you train, you know, and you're always so focused and serious. Then you smile and it's like wow! You shine. I watch you train, you know. You really should smile more. You're very pretty."

I didn't really know what to say, but it sure made my day.

CrossFit LiS is rollin'!!!

My birthday this year was one that will be hard to beat. The workout killed. No one finished under an hour. The pain was balanced by the excitement everyone brought into the gym. Lucinda came to cheer us on and record times. Chet Hay, a friend of the Brasa crew came to take professional photos of the event, which put a little icing on this birthday bash. After the suffering was over we enjoyed barbecued burgers(with out the buns) and other zone friendly goodies. It was the best party I've thrown. And we didn't even need a cake.

I got a new phone :)
