Yesterday we spent the whole day cleaning out our new space for CrossFit. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing the walls, pulling up carpet, scraping up tile and installing the new pullup bars!!!

By the end of the day we were all pretty tired.

We made a couple trips from our very disorderly garage...

The rubber mats(80 of them!) arrived today and are currently lying in two stacks awaiting their placement. That will be a workout in itself because each of the mats weigh approximately 5olbs.

We also got two brand new squat racks. Thank you to Rogue Fitness!

Saturday

I rode the bus to work this morning. Walking to the bus stop, I gave a bum my apple.

At work, I played the leader in "follow the leader" for a whole hour. I think I was more tired out after the class than my students were. I thought of moving a girl up to the next level in my last class. That made me feel proud.

I just took a walk down our street, Flora Avenue, rightly named. I saw many pretty houses of which I would've taken pictures but Papa took the camera on his climbing trip.
I saw a brick(!) house that had a very overgrown yard and was dark under all the vines. I imagined a witch lived there, and quickened my pace.

Tomorrow is Sunday. Love your Fathers.

CFR

I received an email from Justin Judkins inviting me to come on to CrossFit Radio for an interview.
I'm pretty nervous, but I'm sure it will be a blast.
It will be airing live HERE at 6pm PST this Wednesday night.

They wouldn't tell me where we were going. I was pleasantly surprised when we drove up to a contemporary dance theater on Queen Anne. Their co-worker, Jim, is a dancer who was performing that night in two of performances of the NW New Works Exhibition. It was fantastic!
My favorite performance was an excerpt of the 605 Collective which was described in the brochure like this: "Performers dive and collide in a dance that transforms today's hyper-communication into a highly athletic contact sport." The choreography was a mix of hip-hop, martial arts and acrobatics.
Sometimes I wonder how modern dance choreographers think of this kind of thing. Aimee and Bethany said "drugs" simultaneously. I laughed.

ugh

I am so happy that this week is over. It was the longest week of my life.

I worked out a lot and I was in a crappy mood this evening. Then I ate some carrot cake and realized life isn't all that bad.

Yes, I am on my way to bed because I work tomorrow. Felise, my friend from church, is graduating from UW tomorrow and I'm going to her commencement after work. Then I'm going to watch "UP" with Pa.

Yay.

Going back to the Ranch!


I did the last Chance Qualifier on May 31. I'm very happy about my efforts.

After the NW qualifier I was a little down, but I knew I had a second chance. Papa had to remind me that I was still training for the Games and should keep my sights on that fact. The Friday before the Last Chance I went to bed relaxed after a long week at gymnastics, knowing that I had a chance. Papa and I both have great integrity with the CrossFit community and that gave me a lot of confidence.

When the workouts were posted Saturday morning, I knew everything was playing out to my advantage. None of my greatest weaknesses were posted... Whew! They required that you complete all three workouts and post the videos online all within 24 hours. It didn't matter in which order you did them.

I did all the workouts at CrossFit Eastside and Carrie Klumpar acted as the judge with the watch so Papa could work the camera.
I knew I had a long day ahead so I decided to get the toughest one over with first:

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps
Power Clean @ 105#
Chest to Bar Pullup
Kettlebell swing with 16kg(36#)

This workout was done at the Northeast Qualifier and a 15 min cap was put on it. For this qualifier no cap was required. In the back of my mind I was hoping to finish under 15min.

I finished in 15:35. Every rep counted.

The unfortunate thing about this day was that I had to work at the gym. I had to make sure that I kept my food dialed in and tried to stay hands off with my students so that I would fully recover.

WOD#2:

3 rounds for time:
10 Deadlifts @ 185#
50 Double Unders.

This was definitely the easiest one of the day, despite the fact that I'm not very good at double unders. 6:06!

stuff happened

May was a crazy month.

Nationals was on the 8th.

The CrossFit Games Qualifier was on the 16th where I missed qualifying by a slim margin.

Chaurel graduated from St. John's on the 17th.

I went to Washington DC on the 18th.

I went to Philadelphia and Camden NJ on the 19.

I flew home the on 20th.

I did the Last Chance CF Games Qualifier on the 31st.

I qualified for the CrossFit Games.

Aromas here I come.

Acacia is probably in Georgia right now.

Aimee is leaving in two months! sniff.... tear....

In the meantime I will BE.
